Lettering for a city's Golden Book

Bookbindery PappenStil crafted the new Golden Book of the city of Rosenheim — the cover lettering was made with a laser cut from Formulor.

A Golden Book is a commission for the century: it lives in the town hall, distinguished guests sign it, and the cover has to live up to that. Bookbinder Bettina Maier of PappenStil in Rosenheim bound the book by hand — deep red cloth, golden lettering, the city's rose coat of arms.

Formulor's part was the lettering: precisely laser-made to the bindery's design, with advice from our team along the way. The book was handed over in June 2024 — "the town hall was thrilled", Ms Maier wrote to us afterwards.

Her short workshop video shows the finished book — a fine example of laser fabrication complementing classic craft rather than replacing it.
