Elk sample figure made from Acrylic glass GS — light blue, transparent (5C18)

Acrylic glass is break-proof (compared to glass), water resistant, highly transparent, easy to machine and easy to form when heated. Acrylic glass sheets are suitable for a broad range of applications: lightweight constructions in model making or display cases, picture frames and covers, signs and light boxes. Acrylic glass is photostable and does not yellow over time, which makes it well suited for outdoor use.

Its unusual toughness together with the fact that it is tear-proof makes polypropylene a material with a wide spectrum of applications. It is light, antistatic, scratch-resistant, resistant to numerous chemicals, UV-stable and temperature-resistant from -10 °C to +110 °C.

Mylar® is made of polyethylene terephthalate (PET). It is used for its high tensile strength, chemical and dimensional stability, gas and aroma barrier properties, and electrical insulation.

Silicone sheets are used industrially as gasket and sealing materials and as mats and underlays. However, this tear-proof and stretchable material is also good for making articles like bags, coverings, wall coverings or lamps (high degree of temperature resistance).

Thermoplastic polyester PET is absolutely colourless and has very high light transmission. The sheets are not really suitable for long term use outdoors because they will yellow under the influence of UV. The polyester sheets made of PET-G as a rule conform to the standards of the German testing norm DIN 4102 Class B1, i.e. they are flame resistant. Polyester sheets from PET-G are food compatible as per FDA and BGA regulations.

This B-flute corrugated cardboard is typically used for packaging and prototyping. It is 100% recyclable and can be easily joined with a wide range of glues and tapes. Top liner: Kraft liner 125 g/m², brown Fluting layer: wellenstoff 115 g/m² Bottom liner: test liner 140 g/m², brown

Grey paperboard, like grey cardboard, is made from 100% recovered paper. It is used as a packaging material, for book spines and covers or in model making. Our grey paperboards with thicknesses of 1.5 mm and above consist of glued layers that have a fibrous web mat made from bogus paper glued to them as a final covering layer - which means that both surfaces are smooth.

Finnish wood pulp board (also called Finnboard) consists of pure, nature-coloured ground wood pulp. It is therefore not lightfast and will tend to darken when exposed to the sun. Finnboard does not warp as much as grey board and is noticeably lighter in weight. It is the most used paperboard in the realm of architectural model making. The reason for this is, in addition to the ease with which it can be processed, the warm colour and the slightly uneven surface.

This acid-free photo mounting board is dyed in the pulp stage of productrion and as a result will not bleed and is relatively lightfast as well. It is made from 100% deinked recovered paper which is collected from the remainders left over from the production of paper wares (pre-consumer). Because the board is also dyed in an ecologically friendly way, it has received the 'Blue Angel' award for almost all the coloured versions (the exceptions are royal blue and bright white). The 'Blue Angel' is a label awarded in Germany to products that satisfy certain environmental criteria.

Decoflex is a real wood veneer that is glued to a special paper backing sheet; thereafter, the fibres are broken along the parallel in such a way that these breaks cannot be seen on the veneer surface. This gives the material an extremely high flexibility along the direction of the fibres and makes it very suitable for work on rounded shapes that would not have been able to be veneered beforehand (minimum radius is about 5 mm). The stiffness at right angles to the fibre of the veneer remains unchanged through this process, as does its resistance to splintering.

The so-called MDF panel is a recent development whose letters stand for “medium density fibreboard”. It is a medium hard fibre-type board with a high-density surface. It is produced with coniferous woods that have been decorticated (bark removed) and that is why it has a relatively light colour. Interesting fact: to produce a 16 mm thick panel, pressed-fibre mats that when stacked are close to one metre thick must be pressed together.

Plywood consists of multiple layers of wood which are glued together – in this case with tego film glue. This is a dry phenolic resin film glue which is outdoor weather resistant per DIN 68705 (corresponds to AW 100, without certificate), which means that it is both moisture and weather resistant. Please take into account the thickness tolerances of plywood with ± 0,5 mm

100% wool felt is made out of sheeps wool, is UV-resistant, tear-proof, temperature-proof from about -40 °C to +110 °C, will not burn and carbonizes at temperatures over 200 °C. Its elasticity, its permeability to air, its great insulation qualities against heat, cold and sound, its pH neutrality and its dimensional stability make this a material with a wide variety of possible uses.

Cork is the outer bark of the cork oak tree. Cork has a fine, closed cell structure and low density, provides good insulation for heat and sound and is also difficult to set on fire. All of these positive attributes have led to its being very often used as a natural insulating material. Because cork does not absorb liquids or take on dust or dirt, it is hygienic as well.

Kraftplex is made of 100 % unbleached wood fiber from sustainably managed softwood forests. The production process of Kraftplex is unique and uses nothing but water, pressure and heat; no chemical additives, bleaches or binding agents are needed.

Cow neck leather, approx. 3.5 mm. Important to know: each piece is unique - material thickness, colour and structure vary since we use cow neck leather that has not been embossed.
