How it works
From design to workpiece in four steps — with a price that is fixed before you order.
The four steps
Design
Three paths lead to your workpiece: model in the browser, upload a finished file, or configure a shape.tools product in a dialog. On all three you see the fixed price before you order.
Verify
Before the laser starts, a human checks your order: paths, dimensions, material. If we find a problem you get a correction link — free of charge, before anything is cut.
Laser
Your design is cut and engraved on demand from the material you chose — on the P1 to P3 sheet formats.
Shipping
Safely packed and with you within a few days. Made to measure means: fabrication only starts when you order.
Price without a veil
You should be able to see what you are paying for.
Every price comes from the same deterministic calculation. These positions are in it:
- Material — the sheet area your workpiece needs — including offcut
- Processing — the laser time of your design (cutting and engraving) plus machine setup and packaging
- Shipping — flat rate per order
- VAT — statutory VAT on everything — all displayed prices already include it
We do not publish the exact rates behind these positions — they are continuously calibrated against real fabrication times. What matters for you: the price is fixed before you order, and there is no quote-request loop.
Every price is computed by our price engine — deterministic: same configuration, same price. Never by the AI, never by gut feeling.
Sheet formats
Fabrication happens on three formats — your design has to fit on one sheet.
| Format | Dimensions |
|---|---|
| P1 | 181 × 181 mm |
| P2 | 384 × 384 mm |
| P3 | 790 × 384 mm |
kerf
The laser vaporizes material — the cutting gap varies with material and thickness. Cuts run centered on the drawn line; for shape.tools products we factor the kerf into your dimensions automatically.More in the glossary →Verification & made to measure
Every order is checked by humans before cutting. If we find a problem in your file, we stop and send you a correction link — cutting only starts once everything fits.
Because we fabricate exclusively for you, there is no statutory right of withdrawal (§ 312g (2) no. 1 BGB). We tell you this honestly before you order — and in return we check every file before material is cut.
